A major advantage of this construction technique is the ability to put the module on its side to install Tortoise switch machines, bus wire, solder drops to the bus wire, and tie in the control panel wiring in a very comfortable position.  Note also that there is plenty of room for lots of folks to work side by side, accelerating the construction schedule.

Having access to the top and bottom of the layout at the same time, while the people doing the work are vertical, is a big advantage when installing the Tortoise switch machines.

Once all the switch machines are installed, all the drops soldered to the bus, frogs powered, and the control panel fully wired into the layout, the module is placed in the "normal" position so the track work can be tested by powering with a Zephyr.  Once everything is ok, the track is ballasted, and then the module was lifted over the top of the San Bernardino "B" yard and put into place underneath "B" yard.  Here you see the detailed Sculptamold work that RD is doing for the entrance to the tunnel for the narrow gauge track.

Once Denver was put into its permanent position, the next module to be built was Castle Rock.
